We provide counseling and education service for youths.

Agency-based Enhancement of Professional Staff Support Services (ABPSS)

The services aim at providing clinical psychological support services with regular follow-up, in order to better meet the cognitive, emotional and behavioral needs of the boys in care of Residential Care Homes. Upon request of any party such as parents, referral workers or guardians, the case worker of Shing Tak Centre will conduct a need assessment and make a referral. Under the consent of parent and approved by the supervisor, the Clinical Psychological service will be started for the boy.

 

Targets and Admission Criterion

  1. Boys aged 10 to 18, educational level from Primary 5 to Secondary 3.
  2. Boys who have behavioral and emotional problems and cannot be adequately cared for by their families.

     

Capacity

The total capacity is 108 with 100 residential service and 8 residential after school care 

 

Facilities

Our Centre occupies a four-storey building with five dormitories. Each furnished to resemble a typical family environment with living room, bedrooms, pantry, bathrooms and staff-duty room. In addition, there are basketball court, music studio, “Good times” multi-functions room and Activity Centre with multi-media equipment, a game of darts, pool table and dance studio.

 

Procedure of Application

  1. Cases are referred to Shing Tak Centre through CCRM (the Central Co-ordinating Referral Mechanism) by social workers or teachers, student guidance teachers or principals.
  2. Applicant and guardian would be interviewed before admission to assess the needs and to clarify the expectation of parties concerned. Those eligible applicants would be arranged for admission

     

Fees

  1. Food & accommodation are free.
  2. Parents have to provide books and study materials, school uniforms, personal daily necessities and medical consultation fees.

Procedure of Termination

  1. Termination will be effective if the problem(s) of the boy are/is solved; or upon request of any party such as parents, referral workers or guardians.
  2. Termination will be effective if our service users transfer to other schools after graduation.
  3. Termination will be effective if our service users cause any physical danger to other parties such as other service users or our staff.
